Mid‑Atlantic Turners Expo Recap: Community, Creativity, and a Big Miracle Maker Milestone

The Mid‑Atlantic Turners Expo is always one of my favorite events of the year, and 2026 reminded me exactly why. Walking into the show felt like stepping into a reunion—familiar faces from years past, friends I’ve shared countless conversations with, and a whole wave of new makers who brought fresh energy and excitement to the weekend. There’s something special about being surrounded by people who understand the joy of turning, the thrill of a clean cut, and the pride of holding a finished piece in your hands.

A Weekend Fueled by Community Support

One of the biggest highlights for me was seeing how strongly the community rallied around the Miracle Maker blanks. Last year’s donations to Akron Children’s Hospital were meaningful, but this year’s show took things to another level. Thanks to attendees who were actively promoting the blank to other turners, I was able to sell almost a third of last year’s total Miracle Maker donation count in just one weekend. That kind of support is humbling, energizing, and a reminder of how generous and connected this community truly is.

Miracle Maker Blanks in the Classroom

Another moment that meant a lot: Don, who taught the bespoke pen‑making classes at the expo, chose to use Miracle Maker blanks for his students. Watching new turners learn the craft with a blank that carries so much purpose was incredibly meaningful. It wasn’t just about teaching technique—it was about showing how creativity and giving can go hand in hand. Seeing those students walk away with their first bespoke pens made from Miracle Maker blanks was a full‑circle moment I won’t forget.

Looking Ahead

Events like the Mid‑Atlantic Turners Expo remind me why I love doing what I do. It’s not just about selling blanks—it’s about building relationships, sharing ideas, and being part of a community that lifts each other up. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth, shared a story, picked up a blank, or simply said hello. Your support fuels both the craft and the cause.

I’m already looking forward to the next show, the next conversation, and the next opportunity to create something meaningful together.
